It’s been a busy weekend at Cooma with two new arrivals to join our fleet of heritage freight rolling stock. Yesterday saw the arrival of timber refrigeration van MBC 22959 and an L-Truck.
Due to height restrictions, the MBC had to be removed from its bogies for transport by road before being lifted back on to its bogies in Cooma yard by crane.
Despite its appearance, MBC 22959 is in relatively good condition with minimal timber replacement required and restoration will commence shortly. Both items will be restored for display in the museum and will help tell the story of the important role railways played in the transportation and distribution of freight around the state.
