Winter is Gardening Time

Over the cooler months, our volunteers have been working hard to maintain our gardens and landscaping in preparation for spring. Across the precinct at Cooma, we have a variety of gardens (including our award-winning roses 🏆🌹) as well as some fantastic fruit trees, many of which were planted by workers during the Snowy Hydro era. Before the warmer weather returns, many of our plants and trees needed some extra love which included pruning of bushes, trimming and thinning trees, weeding garden beds, fertilising and new mulch all the way around. Award Winning Roses

It was another successful year for CMR at the 2023 Cooma Show with two first place prizes and a second place prize for our beautiful roses. Our roses are grown around the railway precint and are maintained by our amazing grounds and gardens team who have done a fantastic job developing our gardens. If you enjoy gardening and would like to help us continue to develop this beautiful railway precinct, our volunteers are on site every Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday. 🌹 AWARD WINNING ROSES🌹You may have seen the beautiful rose gardens that we’ve been cultivating over the last couple of years across the Cooma Railway precinct. We think they are amazing and this weekend, the judges agreed! CMR entered some of our roses in the 2022 Cooma Show and we’ve won two second place awards for: 🔹️ 3 Full Bloom Roses 🔹️ 1 Red Bloom We’re super proud of gardens and can’t wait to bring more entries next year.

Project Update | 🌳 Landscaping and Gardens

Work on landscaping and gardens across the Cooma Railway Precinct has continued through February as we work toward bringing our museum concept plan to life. Thanks to the generous support of Transport for NSW and Transport Heritage NSW, we received the first 50 of 100 Ornamental Pear Trees that will be planted around the perimeter of the railway precinct. These are the same trees that currently line Hilton Street in front of Aldi.
